HKDI

HKDI, stands for Hong Kong Design Institute, is the design school that I had entered for one year before I came to Japan. I was dreaming to become a designer after I graduated from secondary school so I went to HKDI for design studying.

I need to take three main courses at year 1,graphic design, product design and interior design. Also some classes about culture and english learning are needed.

Since I left HKDI and came to Japan after I just finished my year 1 study, I'm not really familiar with this school. But I did finish few works and took some photos as a record.

Here is some of my work (some of them are project works with my classmates):

EVERYGREEN

This is a drawing based on a song of my favourite Japanese musician, HYDE. The name of the song is evergreen. I did this with my classmates. We used six A3 size paper and one hour to finish it. I love this drawing very much.

My heart draws a dream

The bottle in orange is another work of mine. Tearcher told us to design the empty bottle within an hour. While everyone was colouring the outer side of the bottle, my partner and I put the colour inside the bottle so we can draw pictures on it without waiting the bottle got dry.

magazine cover design

This is a magazine cover design work done by a software called AI. I tried lots of designing software after I entered HKDI and I felt amazing about these software.
Although this on is only a 2D version, I did have some works about 3D drawing. Unfortunately, I don't have a copy but I already learned the secret of making 3D Hollywood like movie scene. I felt very disappointed when I first know how to make a scene having thousands of people and hourses. That was so easy! But I'm not going to tell you that in this blog.

Both of these are some quick sketchs of my favourite musician. I found out that I like sketching more than designing so I quited HKDI after studying for one year. I think drawing is better to do in leisure time than do as a homework.

Yamano Japanese Language School

For a foreign student who wants to study in Japan, he/she may need to pass the Japanese Language Proficiency Test(JLPT) or Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students(EJU) in order to prove that he/she can understand Japanese at a level.

I came to Japan and study from 2008, before I came to Japan, I just joined a Japanese class in Hong Kong for only a month and I could hardly recognize all the hiragana. Then I went to a language school called Yamano Japanese Language School to take a year and a half course.

Yamano Japanese Language School is a language school under the group of YAMANO GAKUEN. Since it is  located at Yoyogi, I can go to Shinjuku, Harajuku,Shibuya or many other downtown places by Yamanote line.

I was studying at a afternoon class at the first half year because only the high level classes are taught in the morning. All of my classmatea are foreigner but some of them are also Hong Kong people so I didn't feel lonely at that time. Teachers of this school are all Japanese except some office staff are Chinese and Korean who are supposed to help students in speaking of their mother languages.

Although teachers can only speak Japanese, they are very patient to listen and try to understand students' horrible Japanese all the time.

After a hard working for 6 months, I was allowed to get into a morning class. My class teacher, Ms. NAKAZAWA, was so nice and great that she even treated me as her daughter. I was so nervous to be in a higher level class and my classmates can speak Japanese very well. I wanted to study at a middle level class and to be with my friends but the principal didn't allowed me to do that.

Ms.NAKAZAWA look after me for a long time until I was able to follow the class and made friends in my own class. My result became better and better every exam after I used to this class.I had more time to enjoy my Japan life after school with my friends.

When the JLPT and EJU exam were coming closer, all the students and teachers were look like in a war.Since the principal ordered all the students must take the JLPT and EJU even they were not going to study in Japan anymore, we had  lots of exercise every lesson. Teachers gave us the papers and then we finished them as fast as we could, then the second paper came. This kind of school life repeated again and again until the day we went to take the exam. It was hard but it did worth.

I passed both of them in a very high score. This made Ms.NAKAZAWA and the principal very happy. I decided to go to a Japanese University after that. Lots of discussion with my parents and my teacher, thousands of certificate need to be prepared and many practice before the interview.

At the end of TIU interview, interviewer Ms.KAWAMURA(who became my seminar teacher in year 1)told me to work hard after I came to TIU and I reported this to Ms.NAKAZAWA. She told me that it was not common to hear interviewer said something like that which means I may probably get into this university.

I was so excited but I kept this in my mind only until the day I received the notification of passing the interview. I told my teachers immediately and they were so proud of me. They hoped me to have a great school life in the university, TIU.

Last, Ms.NAKAZAWA is still having contact with me even I graduated and I'm very happy about this.

Lecture Hall 2

As a Cummunication Language student, everybody should know where is Lecture Hall 2.
The building was completed in April of 2003 as part of TIU's 40th anniversary celebrations.
Large glass panels, open space and wooden stairway are the main images given by this building.
Because most area of this building are painted in white, when the sunlight comes through the glasses, indoor area are bright enough that lights do not need much in daytime. This is a very eco-friendly design.

↑Many open spaces are designed for stundents.

←Glass door helps sunlight come in.

The spacious vaulted foyer attrack lots of stundents to
come and enjoy their own time here.
Also the view is absolutely amazing.→

Although the outdoor stairway can only go to the second and third floor, there is aother stairway for students who want to take a walk as doing exercise inside the building. Beside the indoor stairway, two elevators are also available for all floors. TIU students love to post their notice over the wall nearby the elevators. There is mirror inside each elevator in order to enrich the feeling of having more spaces.

The floor plan of each floor are shown at the wall opposite the elevators so everyone can understand where is the room, toilet and emergency exit easily.

Every rooms and corridors have large glass panel in order to let sunlight pass through and the view outside are so great that the Mountain FUJI is part of the nice view on sunny day.

←Only two or three lights are needed in corridor.

Mountain FUJI can be seen when the weather is good enough.→

Computer Lab

The TIU Computer Lab is on the fifth floor of building one. Room 151 is the area of the lab.

This lab is open to every TIU students from morning to night.

There are two kinds of computer system in the lab: Windows and MAC. Students can choose to use the most suitable system while doing their research and project.

In this new semester, the Windows system is renewed, from Windows XP to Windows 7, which is the latest version. No more times are wasted for waiting the computer to load any software. Also, students can take their work back home without problems of software version differences.

The great thing is students can enjoy their time to survey the internet while they are free between some classes. Computer lab is a nice choice to enjoy their free time.

Since eating and drinking are not allowed in computer lab, there is a place for students to buy some drinks and take a rest while they are working hard for their project.
